Matcha is a traditional Japanese style of tea which literally means "powdered tea". Unlike most brewed teas, where the leaves are discarded, you are actually consuming the whole tea leaf which means you get all the benefits (and caffeine) of green tea which is rich in anti oxidants. It has a slightly bitter, vegetal taste and a vibrant green colour. The finest and more expensive Ceremonial Grade is best for a traditional preparation; our Premium  Culinary Grade is perfect for lattes and everyday drinking.

Traditional Matcha Preparation with
Bamboo Whisk:
Sift 1tsp matcha into a small cup or bowl using a
small sifter.
Add 1/2 cup hot water. Not boiling.
Whisk vigorously in a zig zag motion until the tea is frothy.
Enjoy your matcha tea straight from the bowl.
Quick Method:
Place 1tsp of matcha into a cup.
Add 1 tablespoon hot (not boiling) water. Using your spoon mix thoroughly to make a paste and remove lumps. Top up with more hot water for a hot drink or iced water and ice for an iced matcha tea.
Matcha Latte:
Place 1-2 tsp of matcha into a mug. Add 2tablespoons hot water (not boiling) and make a paste. You may need extra matcha in your latte to ensure the flavour and colour remains strong in the milk. Sweeten to taste with honey or maple syrup. Tip: always prepare your matcha with a small amount of water first, even when you're making a latte, as matcha won't blend as well in milk
