Green Australian Genmaicha Sample Sachet
Genmaicha is sencha green tea with roasted brown rice through it and a dusting of matcha. The rice makes it nutty and almost savoury, and it is the green tea most often recommended to people who say they do not like green tea.
Four cups is about right for a fair trial, because genmaicha is a lunchtime tea more than a morning one and you need a few days to work out where it fits. It is also very low risk, which is the point of taking the small one.
Let the boiled water cool to about 80 degrees, then steep for only one to two minutes. Genmaicha turns bitter faster than plain sencha because the rice is already toasted. Short and hot rather than long and hot.
The sachet is $3.50 and the 100g pouch is $16.00. Genmaicha in full size. If you are working through the Australian grown greens, the green tea collection has the sencha and the houjicha alongside it.
