White Peony uses only the bud and the first two leaves from the tip of the bush, and it is the least processed tea in the range. Barely anything is done to it beyond withering and drying. Mellow, flowery and pale, with none of the briskness of a black tea or the grassiness of a green.

White tea is subtle enough that plenty of people brew it once, taste almost nothing, and write it off. Four serves gives you the second and third attempts, which is usually when it lands. It is also the most expensive pouch per gram in the range, so the small size is the sensible entry.

This one needs more leaf and more time than you expect. Two teaspoons per cup, water cooled to around 80 degrees, and a full four to five minutes. Under dosing white tea is the single most common reason it tastes like warm water.

$3.50 against $18.00 for the 70g pouch. White Peony in full size, and the white tea collection is where it sits.

India
