One teaspoon in freshly boiled water for three to four minutes, on its own. It needs no sweetening, because the liquorice root and fennel are already doing that job, and adding honey usually tips it into cloying. Star anise is the slowest of the seeds in there, so give it the full four minutes rather than pulling it at two.
